Russell Cook
Co-founder – President and Chief Operating Officer

An ongoing engagement with emerging and growth companies, as well as long-term involvement in South Carolina’s higher education and economic development organizations, contributes to Russell’s passion for creating communities that attract talented people and viable businesses. In 2006, he was recruited as Program Director for SC Launch, a cooperative program of the South Carolina Research Authority, Clemson University, the Medical University of South Carolina and the University of South Carolina. This organization provides entrepreneurs with key tools for success, including mentoring, seed funding and access to a powerful resource network.

Russell is the founding Executive Director of the Greater Beaufort-Hilton Head Economic Development Partnership, served as Vice President for a large commercial general contractor, and he served as Director of Corporate Development for a private equity firm formed to develop a knowledge-based economy in South Carolina’s Lowcountry.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees for South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, the Rural Development Council and is active in the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association. Russell is a 1983 graduate of Wofford College and is a Certified South Carolina Economic Developer. He also holds a South Carolina real estate sales license.

Thomas Zinn
Co-founder – Chief Executive Officer

Tom’s extensive experience includes the development of technology parks in California’s Silicon Valley and management of large and diverse real estate projects and portfolios.

He served as President of the Stearns Company, where he was responsible for all aspects of a nine-state real estate portfolio valued at more than $200 million and including more than 2 million square feet of hotel, office, warehouse, R&D and other properties. In South Carolina, Tom had a material partnership role in the purchase, development and sale of 4,200 acres within the Buckwalter PUD as well as a minor partnership role in the purchase and development of Belfair and Berkeley Hall. At the same time, he was responsible for all real estate activities on more than 5,000 acres of land near St. George, Utah and other ventures spread across the U.S.

Tom is the immediate past Chairman of the Board for the Greater Beaufort-Hilton Head Economic Development Partnership, a member of Kentucky Bar and a licensed real estate broker in South Carolina, Kentucky, Utah and California.
